The awkward encounters

The awkward encounters. You know, those moments where you run into an ex, an old best friend that you had a huge fight with, or a enemy you just really dislike or hate. At these moments you really don’t know what to do. Sure in your mind you may have this perfect plan for how everything should play out, but rarely does that come into fruition. But what do you do when you just happen to run into someone that you never really wanted to see, or if you did, really don’t know what to do or say as you get tongue tied.
Would you walk pass them, pretending no one was there, especially someone who was an significant part of your life? You would avoid them completely and in turn, sway away from even more awkwardness, keeping them only as a ghost of a past that was never to interfere with your present or future.
Would you do one of those mouths half open while almost waving stance before walking away because you were unsure of what to do? Part of you wanting talk to them while the other part wanting to just get out of there as fast as possible. Part of you wanting to relive the past while the other part has no words to say and is ready to move on.
Would you actually go up to that person, but treat them as a stranger? Trying to forget the past and the series of events that caused you two drift apart and look for something fresh…a start of something new.
Would you talk to them as you always have? Hoping for a resolution or maybe some closure for yourself and them. Remembering they were once part of your life…and no matter what you do will be ever ingrained in your memory and who you are.
The awkward encounters…what would you do?
